Prominence II [RPG] Modpack: Overview, Content & How to Install

Updated July 28, 2026

Prominence II [RPG] — now « Prominence II: Hasturian Era » — is an exploration and hack-and-slash RPG modpack on Fabric 1.20.1: around 500 mods serving a lore-driven universe, with story campaigns, a talent tree, enemies that scale to your level and artifact weapons you forge yourself. It is aimed at players who want a real action RPG inside Minecraft — combat, builds and bosses — rather than an upgraded survival.

The pack is still going strong in 2026: version 3.9.27 shipped in May, presented as the final stabilization step before a major 4.0 release. It has passed ten million downloads — proof of a community, and of servers, very much alive.

The concept: an action RPG inside Minecraft

Prominence II swaps the mine-and-craft loop for an RPG loop: you gain levels, spend points in a talent tree, assemble a build — mage, heavy-armor juggernaut, assassin — and set out against dungeons and bosses whose power tracks yours. Two story campaigns carry the pack’s lore and give the progression its through line.

Power growth is the heart of the game: forging your artifact weapon, upgrading it tier by tier, and testing yourself at endgame against the Mythic Challenges — bosses that grow stronger with every kill, with rotating affixes that keep the fights fresh.

What stands out in game

  • The talent tree and levels, which turn every playthrough into a build to optimize
  • Player-forged, player-upgraded artifact weapons — the pack’s signature
  • Level-scaling enemies: the world stays dangerous from start to finish
  • Two campaigns to follow for the lore, on top of free exploration
  • A deliberate mix of combat, magic and a technology side for gearing up

How to install Prominence II, step by step

The pack is distributed on Modrinth (its main channel) and on CurseForge:

  1. 1

    Install the Modrinth app

Download the Modrinth app from modrinth.com (or the CurseForge launcher, which also carries the pack).

  2. 2

Search for « Prominence II »

Select « Prominence II: Hasturian Era » and click Install. The download is hefty — around 500 mods.

  3. 3

    Allocate RAM

Set 6 to 8 GB in the instance options before the first launch.

  4. 4

    First launch

Expect several minutes of initial loading. Then start a world and follow the built-in starter guide, which introduces talents and campaigns.

Playing Prominence II in multiplayer

The pack provides an official server version, and the RPG side thrives in a group: roles complement each other (healing, damage, tanking) and the endgame bosses are designed to be fought together. On a public server, check the exact pack version — updates are frequent — and the dungeon reset policy.

Each player levels their own talents and stats: joining an established server is not a handicap, since the world scales to your level.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why is the pack still on 1.20.1?

Its RPG mod foundation (combat, talents, dungeons) is balanced on Fabric 1.20.1, and the team focuses its effort on content rather than porting. The announced 4.0 continues on that base.

Is Prominence II difficult?

Demanding, yes — punishing, no. Enemies scale to your level, so danger is constant but never insurmountable; the real difficulty lives in the optional bosses and dungeons, which you tackle when your build is ready.

Can I play it solo?

Absolutely: campaigns, talents and bosses all work solo. Multiplayer adds build synergy and makes the endgame bosses considerably more approachable.

How much RAM and what kind of machine?

Allocate 6 to 8 GB, with 16 GB of system RAM and an SSD. On a more modest machine the pack will start, but loading and world generation get long.

What will version 4.0 bring?

The team presents 3.9.27 as the final stabilization release before 4.0, announced as a major update. Until then, 3.9.x remains the version servers actually run.
