A Create Astral server runs Create Astral, a cult-classic Fabric modpack for Minecraft 1.18.2 where you start on a resource-starved planet and industrialize chapter by chapter until you build a rocket and explore the solar system. All automation runs through Create — no cables, no box machines, only visible mechanics — and an exceptionally well-written quest book guides every step.
In multiplayer, Astral shines through team progression: quests are shared, everyone specializes (smeltery, farms, brass production…) and the rocket becomes a genuine group project. It’s probably the best entry point into modded Create servers.
Picking a good Astral server
The key detail is how quest teams are handled: some servers share progression per group, others keep it individual — and the two feel very different. Also check the map’s age (joining a server where everyone is already in space can be discouraging), technical stability — Astral loads a lot of dimensions — and whether there’s an active, helpful community on Discord.

The pack was built and balanced on that version and its Fabric port of Create. It’s a deliberate choice by the creators: the version number doesn’t matter much — the experience is complete and stable.
› Can I play Astral solo instead of on a server?
You can, but the pack truly comes alive in multiplayer: role specialization and big shared builds (orbital station, fuel plants) are far more fun with a community.
